ABOUT Dr. Katie Woodley – The Natural Pet Doctor
=====

Dr. Katie is a small animal integrative veterinarian who developed a passion for natural medicine while I was living in New Zealand. Her vet career was lucky enough to begin in the beautiful country of New Zealand. She was able to see how living off the land by growing our own vegetables and raising our own animals was the way to live the healthiest versions of ourselves. Her pets were lucky to have lots of open space to run around in and were always at the beach or the river.

When they moved back to the States five years ago, her husband, unfortunately, developed an autoimmune disease. As they researched natural medicine options for him to avoid the horrible side effects of the treatment options his doctors were providing him, Dr. Katie realized that she was doing a disservice to her animal patients by not offering these holistic options to them. She began down the integrative medicine route and has never been happier. Through nutrition, acupuncture, herbal medicine, essential oils, and supplements, every animal can achieve optimal health or feel their best even when they have a chronic illness or disease like cancer. She currently has a certification in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine and is continuously learning about the other natural modalities and growing her knowledge base every day!

She started this business to provide pet parents with more resources for natural medicine advice and care because we need to increase awareness of how amazing natural medicine truly is! Dr. Katie’s mission is to ensure that all pet parents have access to herbal medicine, supplementation, and nutritional advice throughout their pet’s lifetime. One of her greatest joys is the opportunity to collaborate with both pet parents and other veterinary professionals to ensure access to all available integrative options for pet health care.

My cat had two struvite blockages while on canned food and urinary supplements I was giving him a treat that change cranberry to try to prevent as a problem and lo and behold within a week he was back in the hospital. Currently he is on a dry food that is very low carbohydrate and apparently the carbohydrates affect the pH and affect the crystals, along with the high mineral contents of a lot of food. He’s been doing well for more than a year except he seems to be sensitive to one of the amino acids in the food I have no idea what to do😮

You need to put your cat on a probiotic and be sure to feed only can food. I give my cat a 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar with two tsps water with a syringe. I half in morning and half at night. I get urinary supplements that help with UTI. I got a water fountain with stainless steel to drink more water. My cat hardly ever drinks water so i add water to his food. I give him water with a syringe. I give him unsalted chicken broth for extra liquid. There are cat supplements with these ingredients she talks about.

We use organic cornsilk tea whenever my 22lb Tabby starts to have issues. He knows that it helps… because whenever he starts to get a UTI, he comes to me and meows loudly… I then make a cup of tea and mix with his wet food for him. He’s good within a day.

  9. @MindGymMeditations on October 26, 2024 at 3:47 pm

Should you always go to the vet for them to tell you what it is? Theb do the treatments at home?

  10. @jobrownsmith116 on October 26, 2024 at 3:47 pm

‘m going to order DL-Methionine and add it to their raw . Or add extra to the pet store urinary can food. DL-Methionine is the acidifier in the vet food. The vet food uses cheap by product meats such as pork. I believe my cat is allergic to pork but doesn’t matter to vets. If vets don’t see you buying and feeding them the vet only food they will blame and shame you if your cat gets ANY urinary issues.

What is good cat recipe for UTI to make

  18. @Savannah-ed4rv on October 26, 2024 at 3:55 pm

Water fountains actually, can cause UTIs because they accumulate bacteria that can’t be cleaned out. I was told that by pet food company.

  19. @LuneFlaneuse on October 26, 2024 at 3:55 pm

    I didn’t know there’s D-Mannose for cats! That’s great!
Also didn’t know that you could give them marshmallow root tea! (They’re both great for UTI in humans too)

  20. @heartmaeregondola9782 on October 26, 2024 at 3:56 pm

Please help me. My cat doesn’t pee unlike the his usual pee. It only drops few. It is almost 2 days since it started. I dont have money for a vet. What am I gonna do?

  21. @kimaelani on October 26, 2024 at 3:58 pm

I took my cat to the vet. I can’t afford to buy anything now! Caz after a whole weeks pay … he’s still not able to pee much. He is pee’ing a little. They did an ultrasound and only saw his bladder was inflamed. But not obstructed. I’m at a loss as to what to do! I can’t afford another weeks worth of pay🥺🥺🥺

  22. @chrisdutoit2641 on October 26, 2024 at 4:00 pm

My cat suffers from constant UTI. Vet visits are literally bankrupting me, since three or four visits per month are now common practice He refuses to eat anything else but dry kibbles, doesn’t eat raw meat or even treats. I have him on urinary track support food but it makes no difference. My advice to anyone is to not allow your male indoor cat to be spayed. Spaying only leads to other health problems that vets themselves don’t know how to keep under control and subsequently makes money off.

  23. @EL-gu8fv on October 26, 2024 at 4:00 pm

Mine loves dry food and won’t eat canned, so I’m always crossing my fingers that he’ll drink enough.

  24. @kathymassey4356 on October 26, 2024 at 4:01 pm

My kitty is ItsyBitsy and has only had a couple of problems with UTI in all of her 9 years. I discovered a long time ago to NOT use scented litter! Some of those are so strong you can smell them just walking close to the aisle they are displayed on. Also, do NOT use too much litter. If the level is high the kitty can rub into it and get irritated. God bless the kittehs!! Love from Texas.

Jump to 6:57 to the first remedy

  27. @NarcSurvivor on October 26, 2024 at 4:05 pm

I did some research on UTIs and bladder crystals in cats. I found that apple cider vinegar is an effective home remedy, which can even break up bladder crystals. It’s insane to see all of the comments here of people’s cats dying from this and the thousands that people are spending on vets. The vets could save all of these cats lives from suggesting a home remedy such as apple cider vinegar, which has been proven to work. Many of these vets either do not know how to resolve these health issues in cats, or they just don’t care and they want money, even at the expense of the cat’s life.
Pet owners also need to understand that you cannot trust vets and that you do need to take the time to do your own research, to find an effective remedy for your cat.

Juniper Berry is a Miracle! It was all I had on hand last night for my 8 y.o. male cat yowling in pain, not able to pass. He laid on crystals in his bed and breathed in the diffuser for hours till he released in the wee hours while he slept. I also credit the Reiki cat healing music. Rushed him to vet this morning, x rated and the vet tells me he’s quite surprised there are no blockages, crystals, stones visible!!! Sedated, overnight stay but no catheter needed so far! Thank you. I love him so!

  32. @goddesseven7 on October 26, 2024 at 4:14 pm

Sometime after New Year’s Day my young male cat 1-2 years old developed a urinary plug and needed to stay at the vet for several days with a catheter… he did not have a UTI but I will try ACV if he has any issues in the future. I did suspect that a disposable litter box contributed to his mucous plug due to the clay litter chemicals irritating his urethra. I typically use pine pellets or corn cob litter with no issues. I got rid of the disposable litter pans.

My cat losing lots of blood with crystals…💔💔💔

  39. @drawingdandy on October 26, 2024 at 4:21 pm

Tinkle Tonic works great, I was happy to see it suggested. My cat has chronic issues with crystals despite being on an almost exclusive canned food diet; I will use the Tinkle Tonic when needed and it clears up. It can be found on Amazon.

Vets absolutely rip us off in the Uk. They are in no hurry to sort it out and charge exorbitant amounts to do tests. I was asked for £1900 today for an Ultra sound scan and a removal of urine via needle under sedation. I had to refuse because i didn’t have that much so they charged me £614 to draw urine under sedation to send away for a culture test. I’m not happy with them at all. I had to ask for an anti inflammatory which cost apprx £27 for about 3ml bottle. I already paid over £400 last week for a routine urine test and a blood test and my cat is still passing blood in her urine. They saw her once and I’ve been back there to pay up 3x.

My cat is having this issue. She is 13 year old and was on uti medication, nothing changed. Given xray and bloodwork all were normal. Urinalysis showed blood and bacteria but no white blood cells (infection) .. so they diagnosed her with cystitis.. was on pain /anxiety medication for a week, symptoms never subsided. Shes back again today for more blood and urinalysis! I hope she recovers. I got a new cat last year .. and im almost 100% certain she is the #1 stressor. Ive changed her food, have her on soft foods with a little water added. Stopped giving her tap water, also giving her homeopet UI for her urinary tract.. and something called "liquid vet" for kidney and bladder.. she’s still showing symptoms. Been 3 days since I started this but 2 weeks of symptoms! and $2000 later.. 0 answers! 😢

Try org. apple cider vinegar-there’s a farmer fix here on Utube too. I saved my cats life w.4 doses thru a bulb syringe–yes, foams at the mouth, hates it, mix with cod liver oil to help that (another fat OK) –but it dissolves stones, acidifies urine and it opened up his nearly BLOCKED (emergency) urine problems! Give on empty stomach, I gave 1cc x 4 doses over 2 days. It worked!

  48. @kathleenmacdonagh1884 on October 26, 2024 at 4:31 pm

I’m so sorry. My cat has his third one right now I can’t afford a vet this time. He got it from me feeding him Tuna. Now I have given him some amoxicillin powder a friend brought me and some homeopathic cranberry and other herbs. I have been crying all night. He is 13. I found out cats produce vitamin K and not enough to help digest Tuna and what is in it I guess. I have 5 cats all brothers and one sister.
Chief got his name because he came out and introduced himself to me first then the others followed. They are 13. Then they have a half brother. Who is 12.

  49. @joannawinters6592 on October 26, 2024 at 4:34 pm

If you can’t afford help and special food do not have cat.
Do not come and whine in here, get pet insurance, sell your stuff. DO SOMETHING.

  50. @jacquelineadams470 on October 26, 2024 at 4:35 pm

Go to your local Shelter and see if they have a wish foundation to pay if you can’t make monthly payments, don’t have savings or have pet insurance..
WET FIOD- a homeopathic vet told me there is not enough moisture in my dogs food, (same as cat), yet she seemed to drink water.
I also gave her D Manose, bought at a health store.
