My Freddie girl lived to 22 despite idiopathic hypercalcemia, pancreatitis, hypothyroidism, hypertension and, in her last years of life, CKD. That girl was a trooper, happy and active until her intestines stopped being able to process food. I’m so glad I was in-tune enough to know when she wasn’t feeling well The signs were so incredibly subtle for most of those issues..
Thank you for the information you share on your channel.

I so agree with you! I have 2 senior girls, 11 and 12. They never go outside. They have tons of toys and I give them canned food and water fountains. I stopped vet visits after the age of 10.I sleep with the 5 times a week. They are happy and healthy.

Just like you said about the yearly vaccines for our cats, do we also need to stop deworming our cats after every 3 months???

KleenGreen, an enzymatic cleaner, will kill all parasites and is nontoxic. I use it on all my animals, my furniture and myself, if necessary.

My 14 year old cat has hyperthyroidism. Sheā€™s on meds and special food. Sheā€™s lost weight. Should I feed her more frequently since sheā€™s always hungry?

  13. @GailMcGuire-wi5kk on October 25, 2024 at 4:26 pm

Try baby food meat chicken and turkey and she’ll be fine with no teeth my cats love it and they have teeth

  14. @retrogirl9089 on October 25, 2024 at 4:27 pm

Great tips!! I’m glad I couldn’t afford to get my cats yearly vaccinations now! šŸ˜†I wish I had known about the diatomacious earth sooner cause my cat had seizures for a few years after she got fleas and I had to give her the traditional flea meds. The vet thought it wasn’t possible that was the cause, then a year later the manufacturer of the flea meds announced it could be a possible side effect.

  15. @mangopunch7685 on October 25, 2024 at 4:29 pm

Is it ok to give pouch foods and add a little water in it

  16. @donmulder8061 on October 25, 2024 at 4:31 pm

I’m taking my big 15 year old otherwise happy and healthy boy cat to the vet in a while for a solensia shot due to arthritis. She pumped him up with a three year rabies vax last time I took him in for a check up and renewal of his lactlilose which he needs due to a constipation issue he had a few years back and its working great. She said it was required by law and if he ever scrapes someone’s finger he gets quarantined for two weeks without it. Today he gets solensia shot and the vet wants to make a senior blood panel part of the visit. I dont see why. He is 15 and happy and active just limping a little from arthritis in his knees. I have never seen a benefit from preventive blood panels. They are expensive and their time of value and relevance changes in weeks. Most importantly it adds to the trauma of the vet visit which is unnecessary. And they never drive a treatment even when they have symptoms. The vets ultimately treat the symptoms anyway not a slightly high platelet count.

How can I say no to vaccines when the states mandate and make it illegal to not have the cat vaccinated? The moment I bring my cat to the vet they will tell me it’s illegal to not have the vaccination.

  19. @Susan70003 on October 25, 2024 at 4:33 pm

Stomatitis? and FIV? Kitty has to have all teeth pulled?

  20. @garry8556 on October 25, 2024 at 4:34 pm

My cat is 12 years old, never had any issues, went to the vet only one time when she was 6 months old. She is perfectly healthy today. Unfortunately vets often only try to rip you off buy forcing you to pay for unneccessary vaccines, "health-food" and other nonsense.

  21. @msmacthankQ on October 25, 2024 at 4:34 pm

Thank you for your informative video. I’m based in the UK. Do you sell your products here? Regarding teeth, this is my worry, as my lot will not let you near their teeth as they get older. With regards to Propolis, would doing this now cause them stress? They are now 13.

  22. @Boddaaah on October 25, 2024 at 4:34 pm

4:34 "Stop touching me bro! I’m tryna eat!" šŸ˜‚
Thanks for the tips though. My cat is 12 now and this video gave me so much comfort that he’s doing well and that he probably has a few more years left.

  23. @MindGymMeditations on October 25, 2024 at 4:34 pm

My cat is 20 and everytime I take her for a checkup they are blown away. She only ever had her first shots and a rabies shot. I’ve always had her on wet food and now make her homemade food. I’m trying to find a video that says how much to feed your senior cat.

  24. @skincarerocks on October 25, 2024 at 4:38 pm

Dr Jones what can be done to help a cat with diabetes and now they say he needs insulin. Please can you do a post on diabetes in cats. He is a senior cat and his name is Darwin. His owner is going to give him up because he doesn’t have time for him due to his lifestyle. Do you have any suggestions for this sweet baby.

  25. @denac5222 on October 25, 2024 at 4:40 pm

I’m looking at the Ultimate Feline Formula and it doesn’t contain any of the ingredients listed in the video. A search of glucosamine in the shop has no results. I’d like to try the supplement. We currently give our 16 year old cat glucosamine powder but I’d like the formula that contains the others.

  26. @Nenezilla on October 25, 2024 at 4:42 pm

About the diatomaceous earth….what if the cat licks it?

  27. @amandap6278 on October 25, 2024 at 4:42 pm

My 17 year old Siamese cat don’t need none of that crap. She is fine and eats regular hard food. Her teeth, eyes and coat are still good. She is beautiful. Less energy these days Slight arthritis in her back legs. I took her to the vet not long ago, and they were scared of her because she got violent. They said though she is healthy and can live many more years. I hope so, she has been my buddy since my 20s and now in my mid 40s she is still hanging with me. When that dark day does come I will be in despair and be lostšŸ˜¢

  28. @kayterra27 on October 25, 2024 at 4:46 pm

I foster neonatal kittens, sick cats/kittens and lactating queens and their kittens. Iā€™ve done so for a little over a decade. Iā€™ve spent thousands of dollars on vet billsā€¦ while I still lean on my vet and western medicine when necessary, Iā€™ve had SO much luck with natural supplements/home remedies for common ailments and general nutrition. My vet(s) have been little to no help when it comes to these topicsā€¦ so Iā€™ve relied on doing my own research and anecdotal evidence from myself and other cat rescuers. I wish I wouldā€™ve found your content a long time ago! I so appreciate your dedication to the health of animals youā€™ll never meet.ā¤ I canā€™t wait to read your book.

My cat dont eat wet foodā€¦ not sure what to do. I tried different wet food but she licks and goes away

You have great advice! ā¤ However, it worries me seeing Smoky eat directly from the can. I have read that cats can accidentally cut their tongue or mouth on them. šŸ˜¢

  33. @pjcardone164 on October 25, 2024 at 4:51 pm

Such good tips! My one cat is 15 and is beginning to have eating issues…..is there a natural appetite enhancer I can use? Vet will only give me the Mir…..whatever the spelling, upon me coming in the office….thus an office charge….at 15 I just want to enhance her appetite….is there any suggestions? thanks

  34. @gottalovegabe1176 on October 25, 2024 at 4:52 pm

I just lost my 20 year old. Iā€™m hoping my 17 year old stays around for many more years. Mine use can cat food and a water fountain. My cats are indoor so I donā€™t do vaccinations.

Just as an aside, to the "No Kibble" philosophy (which I mostly agree with by the way):

Wet foods, especially the patƩ varieties in cans, can wreck your cats dental health. These wet foods can linger on the teeth and gums which can cause serious dental disease. Kibble while not ideal as an everyday meal does have the benefit of acting as a sort of debriding agent which helps the teeth stay clean-ish compared to a wet only diet.

Unvxxed cat, raw fed, age 22 and doing very well.

  38. @Searching4Reason on October 25, 2024 at 5:00 pm

My oldest kitty turned 19 a couple weeks ago. I give them a high protein hard food (Purina One), and soft food as well. She’s only been vaccinated when I had her fixed. Only give flea drops if I start seeing them, typically only once, but treat the rooms multiple times. My other is 10. Even at 19, she still plays with the cat toys.

What to do with a cat who has been toilet trained to do her thing in a litter box but since she had soft poops she does it everywhere now. Has she gone senile?

  43. @annaburns5382 on October 25, 2024 at 5:06 pm

I have not vaccinated my animals for 20 years, and never will again. I also feed prey model diet to my kitties and my dogs. The last cat of mine that passed away was 21 years old and was getting around well up until he passed.

  44. @luciaseacreature8705 on October 25, 2024 at 5:07 pm

i really appreciate your educational videos my cat was diagnosed with having kidney stones or type of calcified materials in her kidneys for a period of a year on and off she would urinate outside her litter box i took her to a cat only veterinary practice they put her on a low ash diet (basically prescription diet called Urinary Calm by Royal Canin) she started snubbing the canned version I threw away so many canned food… but I’m very concerned about feeding her the dried version all the time. and she is kind of addicted to those treat foods i am certain those are not good for her. i would love to see more videos on diet raw food vs home made vs canned (I am certain not all canned foods are ok either) thank you for all your information and education

  45. @sabihabintehelal5899 on October 25, 2024 at 5:09 pm

    What about deworming?
Vet told me to give my cat deworming tablet after every 3 month

  48. @ruthnamaste on October 25, 2024 at 5:11 pm

    I swear, you’re Godsent…šŸ™

  49. @KennethNordin on October 25, 2024 at 5:12 pm

I am very skeptical of a lot of your advice. Showed this video to my cats vet and she found it very misleading and full of falsehoods. In principle, the only thing she says is that especially older cats should avoid dry food, and instead give wet food with a high protein content. The problem with some varieties is that they contain far too little taurine. I know you mean well and love cats, but maybe you should avoid being so general. This "holistic" approach can actually do more harm than good.

  50. @Rusty6450 on October 25, 2024 at 5:12 pm

Please mention that you should purchase food grade Diatomaceous Earth and not the stuff sold at pool supply stores. Thanks for the good tips.
