Would this work for hot spots ? My dog suffers from them in the summer, environmental allergies. I use shampoo and an antibiotic cream now but it still gets infected under the scab

Hi what mg is olive leaf extract and it matter the brand? Thanks

  6. @TalkingDogMunster on October 26, 2024 at 3:47 pm

Oh and Stridex ("large") face & body pads (for human acne) which has Salicylic acid 2% (grapefruit scent is nice) also works amazing on my bulldogs itchy skin hot spots, face wrinkles and bulldog corkscrew tails. Been using them as needed for years. (Obviously don’t use Benzoyl Peroxide products *with* OR Chlorhexidine with this but instead of) But this is great because it doesn’t require bathing your dog and your pooch smells awesome.

If you want to screenshot for future reference…

For local skin infection in dogs and cats:
    1) Clean the area with Chlorhexidine (surgical scrub found in pharmacy, often behind the counter) on a gauze pad, then wipe with water-soaked gauze… 2Xday for 14-21 days.
    2) Give the natural antibacterial Olive Leaf Extract (capsules) at 100mg per 10lbs body weight, given orally 1-2Xdaily for 14-21 days. Example: Pippi is 50 lbs and gets a 500mg capsule twice a day.

In other videos, he’s also recommended putting coconut oil on skin problems bc it’s considered antibacterial, antifungal, etc.

What do you use for ear irritation

  11. @TalkingDogMunster on October 26, 2024 at 3:51 pm

Another trick: (I’ve had bulldogs my whole life, all have had skin problems). An old bully vet taught me this…(instead of Chlorhexidine)

Benzoyl Peroxide 10% acne facial wash for humans. It especially whitens white fur on dogs. Leave on fur 5 min. then use shower head with warm water to wash it off. Repeat in a couple days if rash isn’t gone. I swear by it, but be careful around the eyes when doing wrinkled areas on bully breeds. (Obviously, don’t use it *with* Chlorhexidine but instead of)

Oh and, a Chlorhexidine side note: in most pharmacies Chlorhexidine is found behind the pharmacy desk just ask the pharmacist for a bottle, and it’s WAY cheaper than the $18 the vet charges for it).

Either is great. Both methods have worked on my itchy dog breed. Mini- bulldogs 🙂

Does this work for cats as well? I’ve had my cat to the Vet twice and they don’t have any idea what her allergies is! I’m beyond frustrated! I feed her by herself, I’ve given her Benedryl, antibiotics, blood tests and steroids. I’m at my wits end, any suggestions?😢

My dog had a mild skin infection after too much outdoor excitement resulted in him tumbling into the compost bin and cutting himself. (Oops). It worsened after a couple days. After seeing this video, the wound cleared up within 4 days . No vet bills and no stressed dog at the vet clinic!

Thx for all youre tips, greets from the Netherlands.

  27. @debbieporter1513 on October 26, 2024 at 4:11 pm

    2% or 4% ?

  28. @TalkingDogMunster on October 26, 2024 at 4:12 pm

Along w this vid… Re: Chlorhexidine 4% for dogs, my vet put a bottle on my bill a while back which I didn’t mean to buy (bc it was $18, yikes) but this is what the label says "Shampoo affected areas every 3-4 days for 2-3 weeks. Wet fur, lather on. Allow to sit for 3-5 minutes. Rinse & dry well." Don’t use it near the eyes. (Lily’s lab test result came back as yeast). On her back & in face wrinkles. She gets it every year in August.
I do have cats but haven’t ever used it on them. I hope this helps someone because it’s a bummer when your pup gets these itchy, rashy hot spots.
    Awesome channel & great vid!

Could you do a video on dogs with Ichthyosis? My 2 year old female Golden Retriever suffers miserably from the condition, and we try to do everything our vet recommends, but we haven’t had much luck in the past 1.5 years.
